Parque Nacional del Este (Cotubanamá National Park)

18° 16.7′ N · 68° 42.1′ W

The 790 km² national park covering the DR's southeastern peninsula plus Saona and Catalinita: dry forest, mangroves, caves with Taíno art, turtle-nesting beaches, reef walls and more than 500 plant species.

Practical

Coordinates from Wikipedia. Renamed from Parque Nacional del Este in 2014 to honor the Taíno chief Cotubanamá. GoDominicanRepublic lists 300 bird species and marked trails to caves and freshwater springs reachable from Bayahíbe village. Saona's beaches are the country's most important turtle-nesting site. Park fees apply to visitors; ask rangers or tour operators for current rates. Anchor only in sand, and take nothing.
