Catalinita

18° 11.7′ N · 68° 38.3′ W

A 22-hectare uninhabited islet off the east end of the Saona channel, ringed by shallow coral reefs and dive sites and visited mostly by tour boats.

Practical

Coordinates from Spanish Wikipedia (island center): 1.4 km from the mainland and 3.5 km north of Saona, within Cotubanamá National Park. The Virgintino guide suggests exploring Catalinita by dinghy from the Saona anchorages via the Paso Catuano; at the channel's east end the water deepens to over 20 ft at Cayo Ratón, behind the reef. Do not try reef passages in strong NE wind or with the sun low ahead.
