Fresh produce is plentiful and cheap at small stands; for meat and a full supermarket, cruisers ride to Sosúa (a Noonsite report recommends Super Pola) or Puerto Plata by car or local bus. Laundry and internet cafes in town (Virgintino guide). Bring pesos and small bills; card acceptance is limited. Buy purified water in garrafones (5-gallon jugs) rather than using harbor water.
