Handy Andy & Papo Boat Services (Luperón)

19° 53.9′ N · 70° 57.2′ W · approximate

Luperón's long-standing harbor 'boat boys' who run errands from the water: they fill jerry cans with diesel, bring water and propane, collect laundry and help newcomers onto a mooring.

Practical

Position approx: placed in the anchorage between the town dinghy dock and Marina Puerto Blanco; they come to your boat. Both answer on VHF 68 (Noonsite; phone and WhatsApp numbers in online sources disagree, so ask on the cruisers' net). A 2019 blog (updated 2023) reports Papo and his sons bringing water, fuel and supplies, doing laundry and refilling a propane tank the same day, and that 'Handy Andy' also answers on VHF. Noonsite says the only moorings in the bay with port permits are those run by Papo and Handy Andy. A June 2016 Noonsite comment priced eight jerry cans of fuel filled by Andy at US$135 (verify locally). Noonsite also carries a 2015 comment warning against Papo and a 2014 report of contaminated fuel sold from another tender: agree the price first, watch the fill, and filter fuel going into your tank.
