Flamingo Cay North Bight Anchorage
22° 53.3′ N · 75° 51.9′ W
A narrow bight at Flamingo Cay's north end with a lovely beach and snorkelling on both sides, the place to be when the wind goes south ahead of a front.
Practical
ActiveCaptain 'Flamingo Cay Bight': straightforward approach using Explorer Charts; good holding in sand well inside the bight, less sand further out, so check the set. Good shelter in strong southerlies (noforeignland 4.3) and only small chop in a moderate SE (MV Privateer); rolly in moderate NE winds and very rolly one night in SE for a monohull (2021). The outer islets on the west side are said to be popular with sharks. A trail runs south to the Two Palms beach past pools of bright red shrimp.
Best for
Southerly-wind shelter at Flamingo Cay
Season
Dec–May; best Mar–May between fronts; leave or move to a front refuge before W–N winds
