Bimini Road
25° 46.0′ N · 79° 16.7′ W
A half-mile line of flat, squarish limestone blocks in 15-20 ft of water off Paradise Point, discovered in 1968 and claimed by some as a road to Atlantis. Geologists read it as natural beachrock, but it is a fine, easy snorkel and dive either way.
Practical
Position from Wikipedia. About 0.8 km long, running north-east to south-west with a hook at the south-west end; blocks up to 3-4 m across; about 5.5 m (18 ft) deep where first found (Wikipedia). ActiveCaptain lists a day anchorage here in 15-20 ft and calls it a busy dive and snorkel spot; a reviewer recommends swimming through the arch in the largest of the 'Three Sisters' rocks nearby. Day stop only in settled easterly weather: it lies on the open Gulf Stream side. Reachable only by boat (bahamas.com).
