Shroud Cay Mangrove Nursery Wildlife

24° 32.0′ N · 76° 47.3′ W · approximate

Shroud's creeks are a working nursery: green and hawksbill turtles surface in front of the dinghy, juvenile lemon and nurse sharks hang in the shallows, southern rays print themselves into the sand, and ospreys and herons work the mangrove edge.

Practical

Best on a rising tide when animals move in with the water; early morning is quietest. Idle speed only - prop strikes on turtles are the main threat here. No fishing, no collecting, no touching. Polarised sunglasses transform the experience.

Best for

Turtles, baby sharks and rays from the dinghy
