Shark reefs and Exuma Sound wall dives

24° 34.4′ N · 76° 45.0′ W

The Exumas' signature guided dives: shallow patch reefs with Caribbean reef sharks, and the east-facing edge where the bank falls thousands of feet into Exuma Sound. All are operator-led — do not attempt to find them unguided.

Practical

AMBERJACK REEF ~50-69ft, beginner-friendly, visibility to 130ft. DANGER REEF max ~60ft, multiple resident reef sharks. Both dived by Staniel Cay Adventures on their $370/person group day. PILLAR WALL begins 30-80ft then drops thousands of feet; ADVANCED. BLACKTIP WALL reef top ~40ft, frequent hammerhead sightings. JEEP REEF inside the park, shallow, CAN ONLY BE DIVED AT SLACK TIDE. Water 77-85F year-round, visibility 70-100ft. CRITICAL: the Sound-side wall sites only work in settled weather with no easterly swell — the main scheduling problem in Feb-April. No reliable published GPS for Amberjack, Danger or Jeep Reef — get the marks from your operator.
