Sandy Island (Levera)

12° 13.3′ N · 61° 35.2′ W · approximate

Sandy Island is the outermost of three islets off Levera, not to be confused with Sandy Island off Carriacou. It has a sheltered sandy beach on its south-west side, a coral lagoon and the ruin of a mansion, and day boats visit it.

Practical

Position is the OpenStreetMap island node (approx). Wikivoyage: the beach is on the sheltered south-west side, the island is about 600 by 300 yards with a boat wreck at its north tip, and the lagoon has corals. Sugar Loaf, the closest islet, is private, and Green Island's beach faces the exposed north-east. The surrounding Atlantic waters are strongly affected by swell and current, and anchoring details were not verified. Treat it as a calm-day stop with local knowledge or visit by tour boat.
