Sauteurs Breakwater Anchorage
12° 13.6′ N · 61° 38.5′ W
Sauteurs is a northern fishing town where a 1,500-ft coastal breakwater, finished after 2016, has created a small lagoon. A few yachts can anchor in it, making it a staging stop for the crossing to Carriacou.
Practical
Position is Noonsite's 'behind breakwater' position, 12°13'35"N 61°38'33"W. Noforeignland reviewers report a peaceful night in about 4 m over mud close to the breakwater. They warn that swell breaks at the entrance and there are rocks, so enter in daylight only. It is not a port of entry, so you must already be cleared into Grenada. Ashore are Leapers' Hill and a small town with basic shops. Wikivoyage calls Sauteurs' breakwater-protected beach the best in the north. Expect the north swell to make it uncomfortable or untenable in winter ground swells.
