River Antoine Rum Distillery

River Antoine is the Caribbean's oldest functioning water-powered rum distillery. A water wheel still crushes the cane and the processes have hardly changed since the 1800s. Its 'Rivers' rum is sold at a punishing 69% or more.
Practical
Position is the Wikivoyage listing (approx). Wikivoyage (January 2023) gives Monday to Friday 9 am–5 pm, River Antoine Road, Tivoli, phone +1 473 442 7109, with tours available. The Secret Harbour booklet says rum is produced between 75% and 80% overproof. Almost all of it goes to the domestic market. Hire a taxi rather than drive yourself after the tasting.
