Île de Ronde Anchorage

12° 19.2′ N · 61° 35.2′ W · approximate

A wild, rarely visited stop on the privately owned volcanic island halfway between Carriacou and Grenada: clear water, turtles and a reef on the north end, but strictly a settled-weather anchorage.

Practical

Coordinate is off Ronde's north end, about 135 m from shore, derived from the OpenStreetMap outline (approx). A 2011 crew anchored at the north end and snorkelled, but swell stopped them reaching the reef, and they warn the stop should be made only in settled weather. Noforeignland reviewers (2026): good holding in sand, clear water and turtles, but rolly in strong wind and swell. Ronde is about 2,000 acres, privately owned, with a small community still living there, and Kick 'em Jenny lies about 8 km to the west (Wikipedia). Stay outside the volcano's exclusion zone (1.5 km at alert level yellow, 5 km if NaDMA raises it). Respect private land ashore.

Best for

A settled-weather break on the Carriacou-Grenada passage

Season

Settled weather only; avoid in northerly swell or reinforced trades
