Cumberland Bay Anchorage
13° 15.9′ N · 61° 15.7′ W · approximate
A deep, jungle-walled bay north of Wallilabou where you drop anchor and take a stern line to a palm tree: one of the most dramatic and green anchorages in the Windwards.
Practical
Coordinate is the Wikidata/GeoNames point for Cumberland Bay (approx). Expect to anchor with a stern line ashore; local helpers will take the line, so agree the price first. Noforeignland reviewers describe it as well sheltered, with friendly locals, fresh local produce, restaurants and guided tours. Noonsite (May 2025): Cumberland Bay is for anchoring only after clearing in (at Chateaubelair or Wallilabou), and yachts going straight there to avoid fees can be fined. Security: Noonsite reports rife dinghy theft and four thefts from yachts here in January and February 2023, and the dinghy dock is a target; lock everything. Its 2026 security page asks for extra vigilance in Cumberland and Chateaubelair.
