Beach· Virgin Gorda· Virgin Islands (BVI, USVI and Spanish Virgins)

Long Bay & Nail Bay (Virgin Gorda north shore)

18° 29.2′ N · 64° 24.9′ W · approximate

Quiet beaches on Virgin Gorda's northwest coast under the Gorda Peak ridge, with Nail Bay's sugar-mill ruins and Sugarcane restaurant on the hillside above.

Practical

Coordinate approximate: off Nail Bay beach (OpenStreetMap bay label at 18.4848, -64.4160); Long Bay is the next bay north, between Nail Bay and Mountain Point, with the Kodiak Queen wreck just off it. No mooring field. For anchoring in Long Bay see Long Bay Anchorage (Virgin Gorda); no published anchoring guidance was found for Nail Bay itself, so treat it as a fair-weather daytime stop, exposed to the west and to winter north swell. Sugarcane publishes no dinghy-landing details (see Sugarcane Restaurant & Sports Club). Ashore at Nail Bay: sugar-mill ruins (OpenStreetMap) and Sugarcane Restaurant & Sports Club.

Best for

A daytime swim stop off a quiet coast, or a land visit to Sugarcane
