Gorda Peak National Park

18° 29.2′ N · 64° 24.1′ W

Trails climb through rare Caribbean dry forest to a lookout tower near Virgin Gorda's 1,370 ft summit, with a sweeping view over North Sound and, on clear days, Anegada.

Practical

Established 1974, 260 acres, donated by Laurance Rockefeller. East and west trails lead to the lookout tower; picnic site where the two trails meet. Home of the endemic Virgin Gorda gecko (Sphaerodactylus parthenopion), among the world's smallest lizards, and of endangered plants. Coordinate is the summit (OpenStreetMap). Reach the trailheads by taxi from Leverick Bay, Gun Creek or Spanish Town. Bring water; the dry forest is hot by midday.
