Mountain Point Snorkel

18° 30.2′ N · 64° 25.1′ W · approximate

The rocky northwest tip of Virgin Gorda, where coral grottoes, archways and undercut heads make a favourite first-day snorkel and dive stop on the way to North Sound.

Practical

Coordinate approximate: about 200 m west of the point (OpenStreetMap coastline). Dive BVI: three separate moorings; the moorings closer to land are shallower (to about 40 ft) with grottoes, archways and undercut coral heads; the outer site reaches about 70 ft (novice). Sunchaser Scuba calls the site Cow's Mouth for the two arches inside the headland, with a deep wall on the western side and tall coral formations on the eastern side (15 to 65 ft). Day stop only; exposed to north swell in winter.
