18° 19.0′ N · 65° 19.2′ W · approximate

A small bay on Culebra's west coast inside the Luis Peña Channel reserve, sheltered by Cayo de Luis Peña, with turtle-grazed seagrass and reef right off the beach.

Practical

Position is the OpenStreetMap 'Bahía Tamarindo' label (node 368381493), checked to be in water. Coast Pilot 5 (ch. 13): a comfortable anchorage for small vessels in 20–30 ft in the entrance to Bahía Tamarindo, a mile northwest of Punta Melones; the coves between Punta Melones and Punta Tamarindo Grande are sheltered by Cayo de Luis Peña. Inside the Canal Luis Peña Natural Reserve: no fishing (Wikivoyage). Anchor only in clear sand: never on seagrass or coral, which here is turtle feeding ground (green turtle critical habitat, 50 CFR 226.208). Strong current and baffling winds in the channel (Coast Pilot).
