Bahía de Almodóvar

18° 17.9′ N · 65° 15.3′ W · approximate

A tiny, reef-enclosed bight at Culebra's southeast corner, behind Pelá cay: Coast Pilot calls it well sheltered from all winds, and the water is gin-clear with the Culebrita channel just outside.

Practical

Position is the OpenStreetMap 'Bahía de Almodóvar' label (node 368381469), checked to be in water. Coast Pilot 5 (ch. 13): on the south side of Puerto del Manglar; small boats can anchor in 19–24 ft; entered from Puerto del Manglar over a 10-ft bar 0.2 mile northwest of Pelá. Approach through Canal de Culebrita / Canal del Sur (inside Arrecife Culebrita) in good light: reefs and coral heads abound. Draft-limited by the 10-ft bar. Fringed by refuge mangroves (Wikipedia notes refuge wetlands at Puerto del Manglar).
