Canal de Culebrita Anchorage
18° 18.7′ N · 65° 14.2′ W · approximate
The deep, reef-protected channel between Culebra's east end and Culebrita, named by the Coast Pilot as the best anchorage on that side; a lee from the southern swell thanks to Arrecife Culebrita.
Practical
Position is approximate: a point in the channel west of Culebrita, checked against OpenStreetMap coastline to be in water; use the Coast Pilot bearings, not this pin. Coast Pilot 5 (ch. 13): best anchorage is in Canal de Culebrita in 60 ft with the extreme west end of Cayo Botella in line with the east side of Cayo Sombrerito and the southeast extremity of Isla Culebrita bearing 067°; vessels can anchor closer under the lee of Culebrita according to draft. Currents: about 1.5 knots between Cayo Norte and Cayos Geniquí (setting south and north) and 2 knots in Canal del Sur (setting southwest and northeast).
