Puerto del Manglar Anchorage

18° 18.2′ N · 65° 15.3′ W · approximate

A small, well-sheltered mangrove bay at Culebra's southeast end with a narrow reef entrance; quieter than Ensenada Honda and a stepping stone to Culebrita and Almodóvar.

Practical

Position is the OpenStreetMap 'Puerto del Manglar' label (node 368381549), checked to be in water. Coast Pilot 5 (ch. 13): the entrance is constricted to 100 yards by reefs; once inside anchor in 18–37 ft near the middle, sand and mud bottom; sides and head of the bay are shallow. Enter only in good light with someone on the bow. Wetlands and mangroves here are in the Culebra National Wildlife Refuge (Wikipedia).
