Stonehenge Dive Site (Butang)

6° 30.1′ N · 99° 10.9′ E · approximate

Lipe's signature dive: a fantasy land of oddly shaped granite pinnacles at 18-24 m, covered in white, pink, orange, red and purple soft coral, with gorgonians, barrel sponges, seahorses and frogfish.

Practical

Ko Lipe Diving School: underwater pinnacle, 18-24 m, Open Water level; highlights include tigertail seahorse, honeycomb moray, frogfish, ornate ghost pipefish and nudibranchs. Dive-the-world: west of Koh Lipe, maximum about 25 m, unpredictable currents running in different directions between pinnacles, leopard sharks on the sand. POSITION IS APPROXIMATE AND INFERRED: no source gives coordinates; the pin sits at the stacked-boulder islet Ko Hin Sorn by Koh Sawang, where OpenStreetMap marks a 'Stone rock' attraction, consistent with 'west of Lipe' in the Butang group. Confirm the site with a Lipe dive shop and dive it with a guide; do not anchor on it.
