The cluster of cafés and pubs at the head of the Mae Haad piers is where crews eat while waiting for ferries or after a shopping run: Cafe del Sol has served French-Italian food here since 1999.

Koh Tao Complete Guide: Cafe del Sol, near the pier, does omelettes, sandwiches, steaks, burgers and homemade pasta; Ban's Coffee House roasts its own organic coffee about 20 m from the pier; Zest (6am–9pm per OpenStreetMap) does sandwiches and salads and has a second branch in Sairee; Harmony Koh Tao, a steakhouse that opened in 2025, is on the road to the Songserm pier. Wikivoyage: the Safety Stop Pub on the beachfront at the Seatran pier opens from 7am until late with English pub food and live sport. Dirty Nelly's Irish pub is also in Mae Haad (Wikivoyage).
