Koh Naka Yai Anchorage
8° 3.0′ N · 98° 28.4′ E
A sandy anchorage off the north-east beaches of Koh Naka Yai, a short hop from Ao Po, with shady coconut groves and a silica-sand middle beach that is the best swimming in the north bay. The Naka Island, a Luxury Collection resort of about 70 pool villas, occupies the island.
Practical
5-10 m on sand; suitable overnight in either season (SEAP). The middle beach is reachable at all tides; the north and south beaches only at high tide. Three floating jetties and several food and drink outlets on the east-coast beaches serve tour boats from all four NE Phuket marinas, sometimes up to 100 sea-canoe clients at a time. The resort is reached by speedboat from Ao Po Grand Marina (Phuket 101). Isolated coral heads lie off the north fringing reef.
