Koh Lawa Yai Seagrass and Shallow Coral Flats
8° 7.6′ N · 98° 26.9′ E · approximate
Shallow fringing coral and one of the bigger seagrass beds in this part of the bay. Dugongs once grazed here.
Practical
Position approximate: just off the island's east shore, taken from the OpenStreetMap coastline; the source does not map the reef. TrueID's listing describes a large area of shallow coral and seagrass and says dugongs used to live around the island. Expect limited visibility, as everywhere in Phang Nga Bay, and snorkel near high water so the flats are covered. Do not stand on coral or anchor on seagrass. National park rules apply: no collecting or fishing.
Best for
An easy, shallow snorkel for beginners and kids
Season
Best on calm NE-monsoon days near high water
