Outer Islands 60-nm Charter Limit
4° 37.2′ S · 55° 27.3′ E · approximate
Bareboat charters from Mahé are limited to the Inner Islands: the outer islands more than 60 nm from Mahé, such as Platte, African Banks, the Amirantes, Desroches and Coëtivy, are off-limits.
Practical
The Moorings eGuide (2024 edition) says its clients cannot visit the outer islands beyond 60 nm and that Denis and Bird need special Port Authority authorisation. Multihulls World says Amirantes trips need a specially licensed catamaran, IDC authorisation, a landing fee and an approved local skipper, and are possible October to May. Charter boats may not sail at night. Private yachts plan these passages themselves but still need IDC (and for Aldabra, SIF) permission. Coordinate is approximate: Victoria.
