4° 37.4′ S · 55° 27.2′ E · approximate
The state-owned Islands Development Company (IDC) runs most of the coral outer islands, and you need its written permission before landing on any of them.
Practical
IDC manages Alphonse, African Banks, Étoile, Boudeuse, Assomption, Astove, Coëtivy, Cosmoledo, Desnoeufs, Desroches, Farquhar, Ile Plate, Marie-Louise, Poivre, Providence, Rémire and Silhouette. A 2011 landing-fee list says permits must be requested and paid in advance at IDC in Victoria, at SCR 300 (EUR 20) per person per island (verify locally). Charter guides add that a licensed outer-islands boat and an approved local skipper are required. IDC also runs air links (5 aircraft from Pointe Larue), the supply ship Enterprise II and guesthouses on Astove, Desroches, Farquhar, Ile Plate, Rémire and Silhouette. Coordinate is approximate: Victoria city centre.
