Islands Development Company Office (outer-island landing permits)
4° 37.4′ S · 55° 27.2′ E · approximate
IDC manages sixteen outer islands and atolls plus Silhouette, and yachts must get its permission before anchoring at or landing on any of them.
Practical
Approximate: IDC's street address could not be confirmed from its website (contact page blocked), so the pin is Victoria town centre; ask at the yacht club or Port Authority for the current office. Islands under IDC include Alphonse and St François, African Banks, Assomption, Astove, Coëtivy, Cosmoledo, Desnoeufs, Desroches, Farquhar, Ile Plate, Marie-Louise, Poivre, Providence, Rémire and Silhouette (idc.sc). Cruisers (hackingfamily.com, 2009) report that IDC and private islands levy fees for visiting yachts, and that boats arriving without a permit are asked to leave. The Moorings says its charter yachts may not visit the outer islands (more than 60nm from Mahé); Denis and Bird need special authorisation from the Port Authority. For Aldabra, apply to the Seychelles Islands Foundation instead.
