Walsh Cove Provincial Park (West Redonda Island)

50° 16.1′ N · 124° 48.1′ W

A small, pretty cove on the east side of West Redonda Island in Waddington Channel, behind the Gorges Islands. Indigenous rock paintings can be seen on the cliffs nearby. It is one of the most northerly anchorages on a typical Desolation Sound week.

Practical

Coordinate is the OSM bay point. Room for a few boats only. Rocky bottom and a deep middle, so most boats anchor close to shore and stern-tie to rocks or trees. Enter from the south; a rock-strewn reef joins Gorges Island to West Redonda at the north end. Sheltered from winds blowing down the channel (northerly), open to winds blowing up it from the south. Two sets of pictographs are reported at Butler Point; look but do not touch. The park has no facilities. Hold all sewage. No fires.
