Teakerne Arm and Cassel Lake Falls (West Redonda Island)

50° 11.8′ N · 124° 50.6′ W · approximate

A deep, steep-sided inlet off Lewis Channel. At the head of its north arm, Cassel Lake spills over a granite lip into the sea as a waterfall. A dinghy float and a short, steep trail lead up to the lake for a warm swim.

Practical

Position is approximate, in front of the waterfall at the head of the north arm. Very deep: about 27-46 m (90-150 ft) off the falls, so you must stern-tie. There are rings in the rock just above high water on both sides of the dinghy dock, and an old cable down the rock wall west of the falls. Other options are Talbot Cove near the entrance and the south arm. Hard to manoeuvre when crowded; settled weather only. Teakerne Arm Provincial Park has no services and no potable water. Hold all sewage. No fires.
