Puertecitos Hot Springs

30° 21.0′ N · 114° 38.2′ W · approximate

Natural sulphur hot pools on the rocky shoreline at Puertecitos, 90 km south of San Felipe, where 70°C spring water is cooled by the incoming tide.

Practical

Coordinate is the OpenStreetMap hamlet point for Puertecitos; the pools are on the rocky coastline at the point. Pay a fee to Campo Puertecitos (run by founder Rafael Orozco's daughter, Clara). The pools are only bearable once incoming tidewater mixes in; the path down is steep. Campo has palapas, a restaurant and water from a tinaco; Pez Market sells basic supplies, produce and drinking water. The Puertecitos Pemex is closed — no fuel; fill up in San Felipe. Club Cruceros notes the town is dead in summer, with water in the mid-90s °F.
