San Felipe Marina and Harbor

30° 59.6′ N · 114° 49.5′ W · approximate

The northernmost Baja harbour on the Sea of Cortez: a breakwater-protected shrimp-boat and sportfishing port south of town, with a small government marina and fuel dock, where the Gulf's tides run about 7 m.

Practical

Coordinate is approximate, inside the breakwater basin between the two OpenStreetMap 'Muelle de San Felipe' breakwaters (30.9970 N, 114.8249 W and 30.9942 N, 114.8226 W). Club Cruceros: Singlar marina with a fuel dock; stay mid-channel through the breakwater, then turn to port at the docks; depth in the marina was never under 8 ft during their stay; check outlet voltage and polarity before plugging in. The Log lists San Felipe as a hurricane hole: lie inside the basin or in its outer corners. Tides are huge (Wikivoyage: about 7 m, exposing up to a kilometre of beach) — time arrival and departure for the upper half of the tide. Town is 3-4 km north: Calimax supermarket, 7-Eleven, Pemex stations, BBVA bank, pharmacy and fish-taco stands on the malecón. San Felipe has an international airport south of town.
