Isla San José Salinas Salt Works
24° 55.1′ N · 110° 38.3′ W · approximate
The remains of a salt-works operation on Isla San José—one of the photogenic relics of the Sea's industrial past that noforeignland's guide singles out alongside Isla Carmen's salinas.
Practical
Coordinate is approximate: placed inland of Punta Salinas on the island's south-west side (GeoNames Punta Salinas 24.91422, -110.64169); the source does not give the exact site. Land by dinghy only in settled weather from Bahía Amortajada or the channel side; check the shoreline first. Nothing to buy ashore. Inside the Islas del Golfo de California flora-and-fauna protected area (CONANP): rangers can ask to see a park pass; the annual Conservation Passport (MX$3,620 in 2025) or a day bracelet covers it.
