Isla Coyote Fish Camp
24° 51.2′ N · 110° 34.8′ W
A tiny rock off the south-east of Isla San José crowned by brightly painted shacks—a century-old fishing village of the families of three brothers, where you can buy the morning's catch straight from the pangas.
Practical
Coordinate is the islet itself (GeoNames 'Isla El Pardito', alt. 'Cayote Island'; OpenStreetMap labels it Isla El Pardito). Visit by dinghy from Isla San Francisco or Amortajada in settled weather; no anchorage at the islet is described in the sources used here. Crews report about 15 residents (Cruising World, 2025) and buying a 20-lb yellowtail for US$25, and earlier a whole dinner of halibut and cabrilla for about US$5 (older report, verify locally). Ask before photographing people and homes.
Best for
Buying fresh fish and seeing a working Baja fish camp
