Isla San Francisco Ridge Hike

24° 49.4′ N · 110° 34.5′ W · approximate

A steep knife-edge trail up the red ridge above the main anchorage; at the top the sand falls away on both sides to blue-green water, with the southern beach hundreds of feet straight below.

Practical

Coordinate is approximate: the beach at the head of the main anchorage where most crews land. SAIL calls it 'not a trek for the faint of heart'; Club Cruceros reckons about two hours for the walk above the anchorage, and another route loops over the rocky hills to a crescent beach on the opposite side (Cruising World). Go early in the morning, carry water and wear real shoes. Uninhabited island, 194 m high (Wikipedia).
