Isla San Agustín East Reef

15° 41.3′ N · 96° 14.1′ W

The sheltered east side of Isla San Agustín, where a reef slopes gently from the shore to sand: an easy dive or snorkel with green and hawksbill turtles, king angelfish and Moorish idols.

Practical

Position is the OpenStreetMap islet Isla San Agustín (way 669525508) off the San Agustín beach; OSM maps a second Isla San Agustín rock to the east (way 22565440, 15.6867, -96.22915). Huatulco Dive Center lists 'St. Agustin Island East' and 'St. Agustine' as beginner sites. Wikipedia (ES) notes a white-coral reef only a few metres off San Agustín beach. The bay is crowded with tour boats and swimmers by day, and cruisers rate the anchorage unreliable (Practical Sailor): visit by dinghy from Riscalillo or Jicaral, or with a shop boat.
