Bahía San Agustín (Huatulco)

15° 41.3′ N · 96° 14.0′ W · approximate

The westernmost of the nine Bays of Huatulco: a 1,500 m curve of beach with boulders at one end, palapa restaurants at the other and a white coral reef a few meters offshore, inside Huatulco National Park.

Practical

Approximate: placed off the beach between the OSM outlines of Playa Coyote (15.6843, -96.2478) and Playa Cacalutilla (15.6913, -96.2310). Practical Sailor (2025) does not recommend it: busy, with a poor anchorage. Most cruisers visit by dinghy or kayak from neighboring Jicaral Cove. Clear water and good snorkeling (Roads Less Traveled, 2012). National-park rules apply: no fishing or collecting, keep anchors off coral. Tourism here is heavy (Spanish Wikipedia names San Agustín and Maguey as the park's busiest bays).
