Isla Requesón Snorkel

26° 38.5′ N · 111° 49.9′ W · approximate

The rocky shores of Isla Requesón, joined to the beach by a sand tombolo, are the snorkelling spot of the southern bay — calm, shallow and an easy swim from the anchorage or the beach camp.

Practical

Coordinate is the centroid of the Isla El Requesón outline in OpenStreetMap. The Online Cruising Guide tags Requesón for snorkelling; anchor off the north end in 20–25 ft (high tide) sand and grass in settled or moderate S/SE weather. Shoaling is sudden — boats drawing 6 ft or more should stay out of the caletas. Expect modest visibility: one crew rates Bahía Concepción snorkelling as mediocre with few fish compared with the outer coast. The island is part of the Gulf islands protected area.
