Isla Cedros South Bay Anchorage

28° 3.9′ N · 115° 16.8′ W · approximate

A wide, quiet bay at the south-west end of Isla Cedros that few guidebooks describe - cruisers who used it found it roomy, sheltered from the prevailing northwesterly and full of dolphins while the fleet on the east side rolled.

Practical

Coordinate is approximate: placed inside the south-west bight of the OpenStreetMap island outline; no published waypoint was found, so approach slowly with radar and depth sounder. Roads Less Traveled (2010) called it 'a beautiful wide bay all to ourselves' with a peaceful night. Open to the south. No services ashore; Cedros village is on the south-east side. The salt-loading port of Morro Redondo is at the south-east tip - watch for barge and ship traffic.

Best for

Quiet overnight before Turtle Bay
