Cedros Village Harbor and Port Captain (Isla Cedros)

28° 5.6′ N · 115° 11.1′ W

A small breakwater-enclosed fishing harbor at Cedros village on the island's south-east side, with a port captain and a 300 ft concrete mole - a rest stop and emergency refuge for boats that have already cleared into Mexico.

Practical

Pin is the harbor slipway mapped in OpenStreetMap at Cedros village (the town node is 28.096 N 115.189 W). Not a practical international port of entry for yachts: The Log advises clearing in at Ensenada first and then requesting an emergency stop to enter Cedros Town's commercial harbor. For alongside docking, fuel, mechanics, medical help or a fishing guide, The Log lists Cedros Island Outdoor Adventures (text Jose, 619-793-5419). In a hurricane the port captain lets shrimpers and commercial boats fill the mole and raft three or four deep - be ready with fenders and Spanish. The Cedros port captain also broadcasts warnings on VHF 16 around Punta Eugenia. Village of about 750 people (2010); the island has an airstrip with flights from Ensenada (Wikipedia). Watch for ship and salt-barge traffic between Guerrero Negro, Cedros Town and El Morro.
