Lookout Trail (Galleon Beach to Shirley Heights)

17° 0.3′ N · 61° 45.4′ W

A steep, rocky footpath that climbs from the back of Galleon Beach through dry scrub and ruins to Shirley Heights. It is the sailor's way up to the Sunday party, straight from the dinghy.

Practical

Position is the OpenStreetMap 'Lookout Trail' route. The tourism board calls it challenging and off-road: wear real shoes, carry water and avoid the midday heat. Coming down in the dark after the party is not recommended without a torch; most people take a taxi. Links with the Carpenter's Trail and the Blockhouse loop in the National Park.
