Ilet a Cabrit Reef Snorkel (Ti Jardin & La Bombarde)
15° 52.6′ N · 61° 35.4′ W · approximate
A shallow coral garden off the eastern tip of Ilet à Cabrit where the La Bombarde drift dive ends - gorgonians, sponges and reef fish on the edge of the Passe de la Baleine, a short dinghy hop from the Cabrit or town moorings.
Practical
Position approx: just east of Pointe Bombarde (OSM cape 15.8765,-61.59105) where the dive centre describes La Bombarde running from the islet's east tip into the Ti Jardin coral garden (max 14 m, rated beginner-friendly). The dive centre does not market it as a snorkel site - snorkel the shallow fringe close to the islet only in calm conditions and fly a dive flag; the Passe de la Baleine carries ferry and dive-boat traffic and current. Pointe à Cabrit (west tip, plateau then wall to 17 m) is another option in calm seas. Les Saintes are 'fully encircled by shallow reefs' (Wikipedia). Do not anchor on coral; tie the dinghy to the shore or a mooring.
Best for
A quiet reef snorkel off the uninhabited islet
Season
Calm days; avoid when NE swell or strong trades wrap round the islet
