Eleven Mile Beach (Low Bay)
17° 39.1′ N · 61° 51.3′ W
A ruler-straight barrier beach running the length of the west coast between the open sea and Codrington Lagoon. The sand is often blushed pink by crushed foraminifera shells, and you can walk for hours without meeting anyone.
Practical
Coordinate verified: OpenStreetMap beach polygon (way 727376387) on the barrier at the Lighthouse Bay end. Noonsite calls it the pink-sanded '11 Mile Beach', about 20 miles north along the coast from the south anchorages. Wikipedia describes a 17-mile run of beaches at Low Bay that sometimes shows the pink-sand phenomenon. The pink is seasonal and moves with the tides and waves. Land from Low Bay Anchorage. Surf can make dinghy landings wet, so use a beach-friendly dinghy and lift it clear. There is no shade, water or facilities. Aggressive dogs were reported near the ruined Lighthouse Bay Resort in 2021. Barbudaful says Low Bay is good for kitesurfing.
