Voutoumi Anchorage

39° 9.5′ N · 20° 13.7′ E

A day anchorage off Voutoumi beach in sand-bottomed turquoise water, one of the great lunch stops of the Ionian. It is open to the east and only for settled weather.

Practical

mySea gives 1-3 m over sand with good holding close in, so deeper keels must anchor further out. Sea-Seek calls it a superb but tourist-busy mooring. Charter guides say Antipaxos coves are for settled weather only. Exposed to N through E and SE winds and to wash from the day boats; return to Gaios, Mongonisi or Lakka for the night. Anchor clear of the buoyed swimming zone and keep a lookout for swimmers when you dinghy in.

Best for

A settled-weather lunch and swim stop

Season

Settled weather only; untenable in E-SE winds
