Tsambika Bay
36° 13.9′ N · 28° 9.4′ E
A long golden beach under the 240 m rock crowned by the white Tsambika Monastery. Anchor at the north end in the lee of the cape.
Practical
Sailing Issues: decent anchorage at the northern edge of the beach, under the lee of Cape Tsampika. Keep close to the cape to stay away from the water park and water sports further along the beach (mainly in high season). Grecosailor suggests about 5 m on sand. The area is notorious for heavy gusts: in a meltemi the east coast of Rhodes gets severe westerly fall-winds. Stegna beach just south has 4–6 m over sand with excellent holding, but watch the rocky outcrops near shore. Climb to the monastery for the view.
Best for
Golden-sand day stop with a monastery climb
Season
Gusty in meltemi; settled weather best
