Haraki Bay (Rhodes)

36° 10.0′ N · 28° 5.8′ E · approximate

A small half-moon bay under the ruined Knights' castle of Feraklos on Rhodes' east coast, with a fishing village, a ring of tavernas and some of the cleanest water in the Greek islands.

Practical

Position approx: a point in the middle of the bay, derived from the OSM coastline. The bay is about 500 m across and opens south-east between a low western point and the Feraklos headland. We found no sailing guide with depth or holding data here: approach slowly and sound in. Greeka describes shallow, clear water, a sand beach on the left (west) side and pebbles with sunbeds on the right. Expect protection from the prevailing N–NW summer winds, but the bay is open to the S and SE: leave if the wind turns. Swimmers are close inshore, so anchor well off the beach and land the dinghy at the village waterfront. Ashore (OSM): Argo seafood taverna (+30 2244 051410), Tommy's Taverna (+30 2244 051021), Taverna Costas & Elena (+30 2244 051773), and Super Market Maria (+30 2244 051868) and George Supermarket (+30 2244 051422) for basics. Wikipedia notes the beach was rated among the cleanest in the Greek islands in 2022.

A quiet east-coast stop between Rhodes town and Lindos
