Feraklos Castle (Haraki)

36° 10.2′ N · 28° 5.9′ E

The ruins of a Byzantine fort on the headland between Haraki and Agathi. It was the first fort the Knights of St John took on Rhodes (1306) and the last to fall to the Ottomans.

Practical

Pin: OSM. Greeka: only the outer walls and two cylindrical towers remain; the Knights also used it as a prison. Wikipedia: views take in Haraki bay, Agia Agathi beach and the acropolis of Lindos. The path climbs from the north end of Haraki beach (parking at 36.17114, 28.09725, OSM). Go early or late in summer, with water and good shoes.
