Mourtzeflos Beach (Lemnos)

39° 59.1′ N · 25° 2.8′ E

A magnificent lunar-landscape bay at Lemnos' north-west corner.

Practical

Excellent holding in sand, but the bottom slopes down quickly — leave room to swing — and avoid anchoring directly off the beach, where there is an underwater rock barrier. The south side (39.9829, 25.0453) gives protection from northerlies on sand and seagrass.

Best for

Dramatic NW-corner anchorage

Season

Calm or southerlies; south side in N
