Agios Ioannis Kaspakas Anchorage (Lemnos)
39° 55.6′ N · 25° 3.8′ E
A sandy bay north of Myrina below Kaspakas village, a good meltemi hideout on Lemnos' west coast.
Practical
Grecosailor: excellent protection from the meltemi and good sand, but depth drops suddenly — 5 m at 280 m from the beach; one crew anchored in the northern part 150 m off in 3.5 m. Pebble beach marked by winter storms. Further north on this coast: Karvoinolakas (39.9377, 25.0508; sand from 8 m, shade trees), Morasites (39.9557, 25.0455; good shelter from N to SE, narrow) and the lunar landscape of Mourtzeflos (39.9856, 25.0469; excellent sand but steep-to — leave swinging room and avoid the rock barrier in front of the beach).
Best for
West-coast meltemi shelter north of Myrina
Season
Good in N–NE meltemi; open to W
