Myrina Castle (Lemnos)
39° 52.6′ N · 25° 3.3′ E
One of the best-preserved castles in Greece, built on an ancient acropolis between Myrina's two beaches; about 70 small deer roam the ruins and sometimes wander down towards the harbour.
Practical
Visit Limnos: Byzantine origins (early 12th century) on an ancient acropolis, reshaped by the Genoese Gattilusi in the 15th century and later by Venetians and Ottomans. Enter from the Romeikos Gialos side; go in the morning or late afternoon. Spectacular floodlit from town at night. A 20–30 minute walk up from the harbour; wear shoes for loose stone.
Best for
Sunset walk with views over both Myrina beaches
