Ua Pou Airport (UAP)

9° 21.1′ S · 140° 4.7′ W

A short altiport strip on Ua Pou's north coast, about 11 km by road NW of Hakahau. Its sloping runway lets aircraft land only from the sea and take off only towards it.

Practical

Runway 14/33, about 830-846 m, paved, with a 30 m drop (Wikipedia). English Wikipedia lists Air Tahiti flights to Atuona, Nuku Hiva and Ua Huka and about 3,900 passengers in 2021. French Wikipedia's Ua Pou article says the aerodrome closed in 2022 for safety and regulatory non-compliance. The sources conflict, so check current Air Tahiti service before planning crew changes here. Nuku Hiva (NHV) is the reliable alternative. Air Tahiti's Hakahau office is beside the bank.

Best for

Crew changes, if flights are running
